Re: S.O.S. need to manifest a job ASAP
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 10:44 AMWhat do you want to do, ideally? How would your life look if you were doing just that? I know these questions don't take care of immediate needs but it gets you started wrapping your mind about a less limiting view of where you are.
When I am busy focusing on what is not going to right if I can just devote a few minutes every time I think of it to what is going right, it helps me do the attitude shift neccessary in order to get things flowing again.

Re: S.O.S. need to manifest a job ASAP
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 2:06 PMi am a career and job-search coach. and i only have a minute, but i have a couple of thoughts for you.
the place to make a shift in a job search is inside yourself, with your attitude, your perception of your situation, and your vision of what it is you are trying to create.
what you have right now is a sense of desperation, begging and confusion. it doesn't matter what job you're applying for, whether it's a janitor or a ceo, you must have a sense of confidence, rightness and appropriateness about it or you will not be hired. and your story is filled with complaints and reinforcements that something is terribly wrong.
to manifest something new, you must be able to step out of the old way of thinking and create a new and fresh way of seeing it.
and to be hired for a job, you must be the most on-the-mark obvious choice.
that means you can't show a resume that tells them you've done nine gazillion different things, that feels unfocused and confusing. if that's your real resume, i'm guessing that very few people actually bother to read what's below that laundry list of disconnected things. people want to hire someone who is a perfect fit for their job. if the job is a barrista for starbucks, they need to see that you're a barrista. make it easy for them. choose what you want to go after, and then focus on creating a resume that supports that vision of who you are. if you're applying for an art teaching job, your resume can't start off with "stockman" and vice versa. there are many online resources for resumes that can help create a great one -- it's really that important.
and if you are told you're overqualified, it may well be true, and what they're saying is that they want to hire the right person for their job, not just the person who is most desperate for it. if you don't think you are overqualified, then make your resume look appropriate for the job, and don't talk about other things you've done. show them the aspects of you that fit their needs, rather than throwing it all at them and wondering why they aren't interested.
and if that was pasted from your actual resume, it really needs work. there are grammatical errors and typos, and the writing style is choppy and not up to par. get some help from someone who's a good writer. resumes must be perfect, and their job is to get you the interview. you don't want to give them any reason to discount you.
with different careers, you can always separate the resume into sections, making the first one "customer service jobs" (if that's appropriate) and then another section called "other positions" or something like that, so the impression is that you are customer service (or whatever) first.
and honestly, i get a sense that there is much more going on here. losing a job because you are "moral and stand up for the weak" is a great story to make yourself feel better, but it's not based in fact. if you are losing jobs, then it's up to you to be honest with yourself about why, and to see if there are changes in your own attitude or behaviors that will keep that from happening again.
it's a catch-22. the more desperate you are for a job, the less likely you will make a good impression. a great job search starts from the inside. -

Re: S.O.S. need to manifest a job ASAP
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 9:11 PM.
> i am a career and job-search coach.
> and i only have a minute, but i have
> a couple of thoughts for you.
wow... all that great advice in only a minute!!!
leslie You Are amazing!!!
imagine if she had two minutes!
(I completely agree with her... regarding spelling and grammar btw... it is such a black mark on a resume!)
.
if i can say... um kannoano...um... "original poster"
this is a place to talk about manifesting...
we cant do it for you.
I do not say that to be un-compassionate.
it is how manifestation works.
(and I am sorry that you were treated without compassion in this tribe... this is not representative of all of us - frankly I have heard the "You are overqualified" line as well.)
I urge you to take a step back...
your desperation is ALL you can see right now.
It is like looking through colored glasses...
It tinges everything you see.
you get used to it, so you don't realize you are seeing things tinged.
do you meditate?
do yoga?
hike?
I urge you to get grounded.
take deep breathes...
fill yourself with joy... think of things that make a natural smile cross your face...
when you vibrate with positivity... positive things come to you.
(desperation is low vibration)
Love, joy, and compassion are Higher vibration...
Feel it fill you.
operate from that position...
-worst case... you are happy...
-best case... you are happy AND find a job.
try this "Hell-List" exercise...
write down ALL the possible things that can go wrong if you don't find a source of income within the next 3 month.
- notice how you feel... stressful? muscle tightness and where?
-ask yourself how likely each of the scenarios are...
.... "will I *really* starve to death"? ... "will I *really* be put in debtors jail?"... "Will I really be holding out a bowl saying "more porridge please"?"
our minds like to create scenarios...
look we make money by serving people.
offering a service.
You can ask for more by offering a service that either; Many people use or need; or Is Unique and not many people offer it.
Think about your skill set.
What do YOU have to offer?
What do you love to do, that comes easy and natural to you?
now... be creative and go find a way to do it.
make lists...
list ALL your skills, list all the ways you can make it work for you.
do this for an hour or two every day...
spend the rest of your time engaged in joyful action and talking to people who would benefit from hiring you, and sending out your (improved) resume... and I can almost guarantee that you will not have to worry about your "hell-list" happening in 3 months.
I am sending healing energy and loving vibes your way.

manifesting a better situation - with ease, and joy.
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 9:22 PM.
PS.
You have a good wide diverse experience base...
think up classes you "want" to teach... write a curriculum... and submit it to local "Continuing Educational Facilities" colleges, civic recreational centers, adult schools, after school programs, senior citizen facilities, etc.... ect... ect... ALSO... there are so many "On-Line" colleges that don't require you to live in the town they are based...
think of ALLL the classes you can teach.
there is no reason for you to feel stuck!!!
ALSO... I changed the name of your thread... because It is just WAAAAY to desperate for me to support... ha ha

Re: manifesting a better situation - with ease, and joy.
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 9:32 PM.
this thread has gotten me SOOO inspired.. I can't stop chiming in!!!
Kano...
I applied for and received a grant from my local (county) Arts And Cultural Department...
it was $10,000 to do arts projects with "at-risk" youth.
It is a program that YOU think up, and execute... in the manner that you feel is best.
grants have NOT all dried up as is commonly assumed.
there are plenty available....
check out some great on-line resources like "arts Opportunity monthly"...

Re: manifesting a better situation - with ease, and joy.
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 11:04 PMTom, Thank you!!!!! many wonderful ideas..especially the last. Unfortunately about colleges..they too are cutting back on everything do to the economy but I love this last idea and others too..thank you!
I am able to help people manifest things myself and so by reading other posts I can add into the energy there to help manifest with the person....one of my gifts.
In Fact I do better in helping others than in helping myself (big dud on me) but true!
Thank you all,
peace!
