Hi- a quick question: I am a vegan and the gift of food was given to me by a very special and gifted chef. However, I am also a quasi- semi- professional who has been pursuing a career in consulting although the universe has given me lots of support around the food issue-- i.e., a business of some sort. The decision I made was to pursue the consulting thing and just keep cooking with the idea that if I realy want to develop the food thing that will happen but-- one thing at a time. How do you know when you are not doing gods--the universes will-- and if I am just being obsninate?? Maybe I should just let go of the consulting and develop the food buiness. How do you know? I have committed to consulting which is a big deal for me because I have a hard time committing to anything!!! Any thoughts...thanks.

who said "one thing at a time"? and what's a "quasi-semi-professional"? is that a way of demeaning or underplaying what you do?

today, more and more people have multiple things going on in their career. i do executive search as well as write, coach and speak, and i often do small side projects that are creative or that just catch my interest. i'm a complicated person with a lot of talents, so the thought of having to just pick one and do only that feels like a very small box. you may have the same kind of personality, so having a couple of things going on might be your path to fulfillment.

and i don't think their is some "god's will" outside of us. i believe that god, or the universe, or source energy, however you want to call it, wants us to do whatever it is that makes us feel most self-expressed, to have the most interesting experience of life here in this physical body. if that means being a consultant AND doing something in the area of cooking, so be it.

maybe you can get your feet wet with a vegan cooking blog at first, with a schedule that works for your other work that you've committed to. or put together a small group of people who get together each week to cook, and see how that goes. anything that you love, and that makes you happy, can be a regular part of your life, without having to quit your other job.

and i am sensing that there is perhaps a lack of connection or ownership of your own personal power here. the universe is her to support us, yes, but it is not here to tell us what to do, as if it holds the answers, but we don't. the truth is that we each have the answers to all of our questions within us, and confidence on your life path is trusting that you are going to be able to handle whatever it is that you take on. you are allowed to choose what you want, and to gravitate toward all of the things that draw you. that's not obstinate, that's diving into life. ;^)

you know-- I hear you but I also have christian leanings--"thy wil not mine be done". Not hip perhaps but I really do believe in god and I also believe in co-creation--is that possible? but def. not in touch with personal power at this time in my life-- too much tragedy and loss last few years-- just trying to recover and move forward. But I hear you. Thanks..... and I am going to try to pursue the food thing as well...for now just try to get back to basics--peace.

clearly, it is possible to believe in god and co-creation both, since you do.

i can't address believing in a god who has some secret plan that we're supposed to follow, though, since i don't really understand that. the whole god-who-must-be-pleased-or-else doesn't make sense to me, and the god moving us around like pieces on a chess board sounds sort of boring too. i imagine any consciousness playing such a big game as this would want to have all of the smaller pieces of consciousness (which would be us) doing their part, and getting the enjoyment of the experience as well. the more the merrier, and all that ;^)

i could believe in a god, or source, to use a less confusing word, that allows us to generate in physical form along with all the tools we need, including an internal guidance system to tell us when we're on the right path, and who is rooting for us to understand that, like dorothy in oz, that we always had everything we need to create what we want, because we are part of the universal energy, or source, ourselves. the kind of god i could believe in would be like a great parent, giving us what we need, but letting us generate our own journey.

this could be a great opportunity to start experiencing your power again, by both standing by a commitment you've made, and also incorporating something that you really feel excited about... letting yourself have, and experience, it all.

the ultimate power, to me, is realizing that we hold the keys to feeling optimistic, creative and filled with possibilities, and that we can generate a feeling of satisfaction and strength, no matter what happens around us. i know i forget this all the time, but the moment i remember it, i am going back in the right direction. it definitely takes practice, but the payoff is loving life, so it's worth it.

        much luck to you beth!

Many gifts are given to us. For some of us, so many gifts are given that it is difficult to know which ones to pursue and how. Sometimes, we choose one for a while and then pursue another. Others find a way to use as many as possible at a time. And some folks just pick one and turn everything else they can into a "hobby" or "interest".

So, how to know what the universe wants for you to do? I see this as you see it AND as Leslie sees it. The fact is, unless the universe/all/god/one really wants you to do something in particular, it usually is best to pursue what makes you happy with zest and passion and love. If you work creates blessings for others (i.e. food that really nourishes and pleases, consulting that makes a positive difference), then that is most usually what the universe wants from you, in my opinion. Your choice to use which gifts you want in a way that creates greater joy for you and others is a fabulous thing.

On the other hand, if you have really been given a specific gift that the universe wants you to employ towards a specific end, the messages are usually clear and strong. I think that if you open your heart and mind to what your soul is connected to, you will know whether or not you are making the right choice or if some change is needed.

I feel I have been given many gifts myself, but the messages I get from the universe are more about where and with whom to employ them, rather than which specific ones to employ. Which gifts to use is usually self-evident depending on the situation I find myself in. Many times, the universe seems to care less how I make my money (so long as it is honest and joyful) but rather takes more of an interest in how I interact with the world around me to spread love and dispel fear.

    easy decision making.

frame your question into two options.

flip a coin - option 1 is heads / option 2 is tails
    before you look... ask yourself
"What do I hope the answer is?"

maybe we secretly know what we want and we talk ourselves out of it.
    either look or don't.
do what you feel is right.

    and...
my MOST favorite way of making a decision....

    two options...
    think about option 1...
sit with it for a while...
Not worrying about "how" can I do it, just think like it is already done...
    "how do I feel?"

    think about option 2...
sit with it for a while...
Not worrying about "how" can I do it, just think like it is already done...
    "how do I feel?"

does either one, give you a goofy whole face grin?
does one make you say "WOW!!! that would be AWESOME!"
that's the one I would choose.

there is a lot of words, a lot of reasoning, a lot of "logic" one can bring to the table around outr decisions... but really.
if our true goal is to be happy, then there is only always ONE choice...
what will make me most happiest.

The universe supports those that are most happiest... those that vibe the most positive vibes...

And... happiness leads to success more often than success leads to happiness.
